Honeycomb House

Located in the urban residential framework of Salt Lake City, Utah, Honeycomb House is an environmentally-conscious apiary. Central to it’s design is a beehive center, compost and pollinator garden, honey processing center, and bee-sourced retail facility.
The program is drawn from finding the similarities between a bodega and a landscape element. These intersections took the commercial human-scale elements of bodegas with the recycling world-scale elements of nature.
Honeycomb House’s form derives from organic curvature forms meshing with rigid grid systems, further emphasizing these intersections.
