Straddle
Aligned by a set of rigid geometrical standards, Straddle is a 3D composition study created in the process of “thinking by making.” Developed from iterating 25 paper forms, Straddle’s inception began as a single fold in a triangle.
It’s eventual arrayed and mirrored quality contributes itself to a more aggressive and ill-spirited disposition.
Finally, in an effort to diagram Straddle through hand drawings, iterations began on recreating the form with deliberate materiality. Steel was an obvious choice in reflecting the almost hostile movement of the form. Concrete, the secondary material in the study, gave Straddle weight and substance, an anchor to it’s chaos.
